A fist fight in Peru initiated the idea of The Story Co. But it was two fellow travelers that brought it to life.

sachin journey

The year is 2015. Sachin has quit his successful career in Public Relations to travel the world and take challenges. The trip takes him through Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and parts of Central America. The 32-year old Mumbaikar learns Salsa in Colombia, plays drums in Brazil, treks to the lost city in Colombia and meets Bollywood dancers of Bolivia.

But the afternoon of 26th December 2015 stands out…

High up in the Peruvian Andes, he is unable to muster courage to face a challenge he had wished to. It’s time to participate in the fighting festival called ‘Takanakuy’. But Sachin is developing second thoughts after spotting the bruises and broken noses.

Just as he is about to chicken out, a voice in his head asks him, “Sachin, what’s the story you will tell your future wife and kids if you don’t fight this afternoon?”

He feels a surge of energy. He stands up. He fights…

…and yes! He is knocked out in 15 seconds.

The embarrassment notwithstanding, he does get a story to tell.

But more importantly, the afternoon makes him realize the power of stories. That we face our deepest fears or punch beyond our weight because of a story we want to tell about ourselves in the future.

It will be another four years before he makes it his mission along with Ranjani to bring the power of stories to business.

‘Who’s Ranjani?’

Well, the love for travel turned these strangers into friends. And the possibilities with storytelling turned these friends into business partners.

Sachin is on a mission to empower 10,000 Indian startup founders with the power of story by 2025.

While Ranjani works on understanding how to live a more rich life by reflecting on stories from your own and others’ lives.

The Story Co team helps companies, startups and individuals multiply their success rate in sales, team-building and fund-raising.

Stories Mean Success

We work with stories because we know they are a superpower.

Just that we need to use more of them in business and career.

Our mission is to coach 10,000 Indian startup founders to become great storytellers. And we’d like to achieve this by 2025.

We know that combined with founders’ knowledge and work-ethic, their storytelling will take Indian startups to the world. And that will push our country forward.

While we are at it, we are also helping make the corporate world more engaging and meaningful too.

How are we doing this?

By helping leaders, managers, sales and marketing folks realize the power of stories. But more importantly, we train them to use stories to fight the good fight.

We do all of this through coaching, consulting and community initiatives.

That’s a lot about The Story Co.

What truly matters is why stories are powerful and if they can help in business and career.

We’d suggest that you watch this video and let The Story Co join your mission to make communication simple, clear and compelling.
